Ask Us Anything!
How old does my child have to be to enroll?
We are licensed from ages 2 to Kindergarten.
When does your curriculum part of the day start?
Our daily curriculum starts shortly after breakfast which is served at 9 o'clock. We ask that children arrive before 9 am to ensure that they receive a healthy breakfast & are ready for class.
Do I have to pay for holidays even though you are closed?
Yes, there are six paid holidays throughout our school year. As we are open all 52 weeks a year we do close for New Years, Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving & Christmas. On the flip side we are open for Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Jr., Presidents Day, and so many more that we are open for business.
What holidays does Anderson Country Preschool celebrate & to what extent?
We are not a religious affiliated preschool & celebrate mostly commercialized holidays. We celebrate the joy of the season during Christmas & sing songs that include Santa Clause. We work around our clients religious beliefs & would never ask a child to participate in activities that the parents do not agree with. In fact we will change our curriculum for that day to ensure that no child is ever excluded, we will just gear our projects towards something other than the holiday at hand.
What is your sick day policy?
If your child is sick we ask that they stay home and after 24 full hours of clear health they can return back to school. If your child attends school and they are sent home sick, they will need to stay home the remainder of that day & miss school the next day. If all symptoms have gone then your child may return, otherwise, as long as their symptoms remain, please keep them home as to not pass illnesses or infections on to other children.
Those symptoms include (but are not limited only to); fever, rash, diarrhea, vomiting, eye discharge, green discharge from nose, mouth or eyes, continuous coughing, or too tired or ill to participate in daily activities.
*With prescribed medication & parental consent we will administer antibiotics so that children may attend school.

Do I have to call when my child wont be attending for the day? What if we're just coming in late?
Yes, we ask that you communicate with us when your child will not be in attendance. Same goes if you are running late. We staff according to our daily roster & if your child will not be attending we may have over staffed or if you are running late we may have under staffed & your child may not be able to stay. As long as we receive a phone call we can work with your schedule & ensure we are prepared.
How do you handle children with special dietary needs?
As we provide breakfast, lunch & snack each child's needs are taken into consideration. We have many children who require special attention when preparing their meals. From gluten free to vegan we have experience cooking for all different types of needs & the best part is there no need for you to provide anything! It all comes included in our meal program!
My child is crying when I drop him/her off? Why don't they want to come to school?
We certainly understand a parent's concern when children don't want to stay at school when you drop them off. We try our best to involve children in activities to get them excited for their day at school. Sometimes, even with all of our efforts, children still don't want to stay. It is our experience that even the best mornings can go arrey for a variety of reasons & children are simply having a rough morning. When it comes down to it, we know we are a pretty fun group but nothing compares to spending the day with their parent. Please keep in mind that there are days for everyone where it would be simpler and make us happier to just stay home, children are no different. But as long as we are diligent and work together they will turn their day around in no time!
What is your discipline policy?
We understand that no one is perfect & we especially can't expect perfection from young children who are still learning the ways of the world. At Anderson Country Preschool we NEVER belittle, physically punish, or humiliate children. When a child misbehaves or hurts another child we take the opportunity to get down on their level, make eye contact & discuss why that behavior wasn't acceptable. We first try to talk it out. If the behavior consists then we ask that the child sit and think about their behavior on our "thinking time" bench - this is not a just a time out bench, they are separated from the opportunity to misbehave again & their job is to think of what they could have done differently. A teacher will then follow up with the child & discuss the problem before the child is released out of "thinking time". We try to solve problems before they arise when we can! If we see a problem brewing we try to step in and offer assistance before a child gets in trouble. We want to give them the words and tools to succeed!
